Photo of old Jack and a very rare old Kamani tree.This tree is one in a small, sacred grove of Kamani on the island of Molokai, Hawaii, which were written up in ships' logs of early navigators to Hawaii.

In ancient Hawaii they were considered sacred and planted near Heiaus (Hawaiian temples) which is the case with this grove.

I would never touch one of these trees with a saw!! However, I was fortunate to obtain a large branch that had broken off one of the trees from which I fashioned the Hawaiian Kamani calabashes you see on this website. They are the largest contemporary Kamani calabashes in Hawaii that I know of.
